Generic Plavix - Is there a generic available?

My dad recently started taking Plavix, which is quite expensive. I was told by his pharmacy that there is no generic. However, when I started researching drugs from Canada-their websites show a generic version. Is is possible that Canada has a generic but the US doesn't?

There are a lot of online pharmcies which offer generic Plavix, it means that all of these medicines contains the same active ingredient (clopidogrel) as brand preparation. In most cases generic works the same as brand
