My 12 year old son has been prescribed PMS-Cyproheptadinehim HCL for appetite and allergies. He is on Vyvanse 30mg. for ADHD. This takes his appetite away so I was wondering if anyone else has been on this medication and can tell me how they reacted. Thanks in advance. Smileyhappy.
Has anyone tried cyproheptadine for loss of appetite because of Vyvanse, did it help?

The only thing I know about the drug is that it is a type of antihistamine but it is used offlabel sometimes in anorexics because it stimulates the appetite. My older boy started getting concerned about his weight about this age and by age 13 he wanted to stop his meds and just started then flat out refusing to take them. My younger son had appetite problems but we got by some of the issue by my giving him high protein, high calorie drinks like the high protein Ensure and Boost right before bedtime so his body would store the calories while he was asleep. He really liked the WalMart Equate brand off the chocolate and strawberry flavors best. I hope this works for you and I'm sorry I dont know much about the med but I did want to offer the idea of the Ensure.
Thanks blondeguitar,
Well I hope it works that well for my son. He could use 8 pounds. Did you come off the meds after gaining the 8 pounds? Did you find you gained weight and then it stopped or did it continue? Thanks again
I took it for about a month. I kept the weight on. But you have to really eat alot like I did. I am 43 now and only weigh about 123lbs. Ive always been small framed. It really helped me.
Hi Mel,
My son used to have migraines when he was younger but now it has stopped but good to know. Thanks. Smiley happy.

Yes, my son is drinking Ensure drinks (chocolate). He gained a little weight with them also. I'll try the Equate brand to see if it's less expensive. I'm in Canada and I usually pay 8.99 not icluding tax for Ensure. Thanks for the input. Lynne
