Mucinex - would the DM given to my 14 year old be a stimulant if given at night?

The dextromethorphan (DM part of Mucinex DM) should not act as a stimulant. It is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.
(I think you might be mistaken with Mucinex D, which contains guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine. The pseudoephedrine may act as a stimulant.).
