9 years. Perscripton, lorcet, vicoprofen, I have an appointment. To see a sub Dr in 5 days are subs the best way to go go or should i try methadone. i believe he prescribes both. I went cold turkey twice before and I was sick for
6 weeks, in cant go through that again! I would love your opinions. And thank you!

Hi I was prescribed methadone, then went on sub and am now nearly a month drug free. The withdrawals off methadone, I found hard to cope with .Sub was more copeable for me. My partner is going to rehab on monday to swap from methadone to sub then he will taper and become drug free. Hope this helps you come to a decision.

I was addicted to pain pills for many, many years and went into the suboxone program in 2005. I was on sub for 6 years and now am finally free of it since Sept 2011. If I had to do it over I wouldn't change a thing, really. I think suboxone is good when rx'd for opiate addiction. It will keep you clean. It can be tapered to a low dose so when you come off sub the w/ds should be tolerable. Many here can help you with that. I jumped off sub after 6 years at 1mg and the w/ds were a little intense but I made it thru and remain free of all drugs at present. Whatever you decide, do it for yourseld. Don't be hard on yourself and stay with us for the support you need thru this.Keep us posted.

hi Silkie,doctors cant perscribe methadone for maintenance of a drug problem only for pain.so your doc will need your entire med history.suboxone can be prescribed for both pain and drug addiction.but it is very expensive.you will have to go to counseling and give urine tests. all this stuff is better discussed with this Dr your going to see. but if its a simple case of witch is the lesser of withdraw to come off of its suboxone.

OK LISTEN!!! I know how you feel, and I know withdrawal sucks!!! Most of all if you have to work while your going though all of this, I'm on day 6 of methadone withdrawal, and have done cold turkey off 1mg of sub as well, there a little different when it comes to withdrawal symptoms but all in all they both take a lot out of you no matter what dose your on. Now all in all methadone withdrawal is a bit more intense. Ok so the point im trying to get at is there is a little leaf called kratom, I am so thankful i found this godsend of a plant, like I said before, I'm on day 6 of methadone withdrawal and have had little to no withdrawal symptoms besides in the morning, the working class in east asia (where the plant grows) use this plant for opium withdrawal for years and years and years.

Wow, never heard of this before. Kratom? Where would you find this herb? I'm in my months of tapering, and must continue to work at 2 full-time jobs, parent caretaking, among other demanding tasks... anything helps, and definitely don't plan on getting addicted... can't wait to finish with all this crud! Thanks!

Hello, thank you to all that helped! I just thought I would update and let you know that I started on subs today. Found a wonderful doctor through treatmentmatch.org. I started on the tablets but the Dr said they are going
to stop making them. Hmmm wonder why? Anyway thanks again!!!

Thank you! I have such a love/ hate relationship with my meds, I'm so tired of the roller coaster.
