When taking mercatopurine I had excruciating joint and muscle pain all over my body. I have been off this med for 3 wks and the pain is still in my hands although not as bad, it's tolerable. Will this eventually go away? Did anyone have this problem? I was taking percocet for the pain and it barely took the edge off of the pain. Thanks
Mercaptopurine - have now stopped, will the joint and muscle pain go away, anyone else have this?

Have been on 6mp for roughly 10 yr. in addition to lialda. have had muscle joint, all over pain for many many years. last 5 yrs, chronic. No physician will admit to any meds. being responsible. have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, dont buy it. Has to be meds. I went off mercaptopurine 3 yrs ago for a week, had horrible "mental" effects. non stop crying, feeling like i was going crazy. after approx. 4 hrs after taking a 50 mg. mercaptopurine, started to feel "normal" by next day, I was myself. havent been without it again! it was horrible. so, sorry not to answer your ? directly, but i would say anything is possible.
