Chronic illness has me home bound for over eight years. Wishing to share with others what I have learned and find a friend or two.
Polymyositis (muscle deterioration), interstitial lung disease (aka styrofoam lungs), thyroid removed (micro cell cancer), diabetes type II (prednisone related), on oxygen support, ischemic colitis, GI bleeds, anxiety from prednisone side effects, depression, PTSD thanks to parents from hell. If you wanna talk shingles just been through a nasty case.
Meds: high dose prednisone, tacrolimus(prograf), levoxyl, mepron (had PCP, deadly pneumonia), alprazolam, antidepressant, ranitidine, CoQ10 which is great for muscles and brain, and support vitamins, most recently added Xanax because of the side effects from the prednisone causing panic attacks.
Buddhist and a Tibetan dharma teacher. Broad science back ground and have never stopped learning. One gorgeous brilliant accomplished violin playing, science seeking (double major biology and performance violin) just turned programmer daughter with a great job and guy. One amazing husband who is slowly accepting my deterioration. Yet helpful in every other way. Just to name a few things going on. Brother who doesn't bother to send a Christmas card or call. Sister who says she will help but has reasons why she can't and finally understanding. And one great friend whom I have known since second grade and helps as often as she can.
That's me. Have had an interesting life so far. Just once in a while when too many things are wrong and I find myself in a hospital again, I do take a mental down fall then. My therapist is great. I pull out of the doldrums or I never would have made it to 63 and counting. Homebound for a long time now.
