Warfarin - Anyone have any luck with purchasing a home testing machine (finger prick) for INR?

honda1's response: INR machines are accurate. My doctor won't write an order for one, because He gets paid as well as the lab picking my finger. The machines are expensive . Has anyone gotten one without a doctors order.

honda1's response: Iceberg lettuce is the best of the lettuces to eat. But it has a low amount of vit K. If you eat a lot of this, it will lower your INR because it works against Coumadin. Go to the site Dr. Gourmet snd the Coumadin Diet. Good Luck!

honda1's answer: Do everything you can to get your prescription filled. Being off Coumadin can cause blood to clot and cause a stroke. Good Luck.

honda1's answer: I was losing hair due to warfarin. Doctor put me on 1000 mg. of Biotin. Said that if this helps, it will take 6 months to see results. I feel like my hair is getting better. It is worth a try. Biotin is in the vit section of your drug store.
