I am a 56 year old woman with a several different health issues...among them---Graves Disease (an auto-immune disease), Graves eye disease, Osteoarthritis, Chronic lower back pain, Chronic knee pain...and all the things associated with Graves and their symptoms...insomnia, feeling like you are on speed all the time (which sucks! don't know why people actually LIKE speed!), lack of appetite, etc., etc. Also the graves has caused all my bones and teeth to degenerate, and I have alot of pain in my knees, and back. Also had a plate put in my neck from a bone spur that was making me paralyzed. Other symptoms from the graves are SEVERE anxiety, pain, more pain, did I mention NOT SLEEPING yet??? I have the bones of a 75 year old woman which is NOT cool, as I am NOT yet close to being 75. lol. The doc refuses to give me a new knee (after arthroscopic surgery last month that turned out badly) until I am in my 60's, therefore I have been referred to a pain management program. I just want to live a NORMAL life, and be like I used to be just about 4 or 5 years ago...before I lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks, and got Graves. I can hardly remember what I used to feel like, but I know it was NORMAL! I have done things I am NOT proud of, just to get out of the pain..been there, done it. I was working HARD, but had no insurance nonetheless. (too expensive) You know, people treat you like CRAP if you don't have insurance. I was made to feel like a 2nd class citizen...it was HUMILIATING!! But now I am married, YEA, and have good insurance..I have gotten all the MRI's, x-rays, thyroid scans, surgeries...and am now on pain management. Just got started on it a month or so ago. I hope being on here can give me some ideas on what to do and how to manage my pain issues. Thanks for listening! And best wishes to ALL of you in pain!!! I can relate...If anyone needs info on Graves Disease, any thyroid problems, or auto-immune diseases...let me know. I have become an expert the past few years on these subjects, as my 3rd out of 4 sons has Graves also...it runs in families. TTYL!!!read less
