My name is Tom, I am a 53 yr old married man. I have an incredibly supportive wife and family. I have three children, ages 26, 24 & 22, and one grandson, who is the greatest little guy in the world, at least my world. I am a partner in a professional services firm and have been blessed by God with the ability to provide for my wife and family. I am one of seven children and the fourth of four brothers in my family of origin who are alcoholic, although I have not had a drop of alcohol since Jan 8, 1990. About five years ago, what started out as casual use of an occassional percocet turned into a passion to find any type of opiate to "soothe my soul". In late June 2005, I hit the proverbial jackpot when I found an Internet site from whom I was prescribed by a US licensed physician, 120 Norco, 10mg w/3 refills. My "occassional use" escalated to 10 to 12 pills per day and a 2nd Internet Dr. prescribing the same meds. I quickly realized that I was jeopordizing my family and my business with this crazy behavior and I went to see a physician/phsychiatrist who specialized in treating addictions. I was placed on 16 mgs of Suboxone, then switched to Subutex after about a month due to a bad reaction to the Suboxone. After a brief attempt at tapering, I have been on either 16 or 24 mgs of Subutex for nearly five years, when I was forced to change to Suboxone film by our new insurance company if you can believe that. Nonetheless, I am still taking 24 mgs/day, but I have just started tapering using Pattishan61's tapering advice. I have a new lease on life since I found this site. I realize I am not alone, that there are people just like me who have not only stopped using, but that are completely free of Suboxone/Subutex. I now have great hope and the comfort of knowing that I have a huge support group that I can lean on to help and I pray that someday, I can help someone like me when the day comes. Thank you all for your support. I thank God that He steered me to this site!!read less
