Is a meloxicam 7.5 tablet like a small pain killer, kind of like a loratab 7.5?

Meloxicam is for pain but it is not like Lortab. Meloxicam is an NSAID. Lortab is a combination drug with hydrocodone (an opioid) and acetaminophen (a non-opioid pain reliever). Meloxicam works by reducing inflammation.

Lortab - Why are narcotic pain killers so heavily controlled when alcohol and tabacco are not?Yet?

... people die from alcohol and tabacco use all the time. Atleast the purpose of pain killers are to kill pain. Am I misunderstanding something?
