Hey vasantha,
I'm no doctor, but while there is risk of heart, stroke or GI bleed with any non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) use since you are only taking for a short time each month, the risk is decreased. I would think long term use means more like years rather than months. Don't know that the omeprazole will prevent gastric problems from the NSAID as they operate on two different issues in the stomach. The mylanta will help coat the stomach thereby possibly offering some help from the effect the NSAID has on the prostoglandins in the GI tract.
There is always risk of cardiovascular event, stroke, MI or GI problems with any use of an NSAID. Fortunately, using it only for a few days each month reduces that chance.
Best wishes,
Laurie
