The only thing I can find that the Depo would mess with is your bleeding time, glucose levels, thyroid levels and cholesterol levels. It doesn't cause problems with the colon or bowel. There is a drug that works great for IBS and other similar issues it is called Levsin/SL. It has worked wonders for me with no side effects other than being a little extra thirsty, it can tend to dry you out. I have tried everything humanly possible and that is the best drug I have ever had. It is not addictive, not a narcotic and is a very old and trusted drug by many doctors. I have a specialist and my primary care doctor saying it is the best drug around for these issues. It is not to expensive depending on how much you end up using. Some insurances will pay for it and some will not because it is an older drug. It is very safe and effective I would give that a try it may help you also. I had been in so much pain and vomiting daily that I swore I would try anything and I am glad I did. Good luck to you I know what this is like hope you try this and I hope it works for you.

Ive tried Levsin and it didnt do anyhting for me. I also tried Xifaxan and it made my symptoms worse. I heard about Elavil which is a mild Antidepressent to help with IC and IBS??? Anyone know nothing about it???
Panda023. I take Elavil at night 30mg. to help me sleep,IBS and IC. I also have fibromyalgia. Elavil does help. I also take Cymbalta which is also helping myy chronic pain. I would give the Elavil a try at a low dose to start if your doctor feels it is help. This is an old med but a good one that has all sort of benifits. I took it years ago at a much higher dose and felt very tired. but now I take a lower dose and it is very manageable. Everyone is different so do not give up trying things that can help. You can find a combination to make every day living better. I wish you a lot of luck!
