I have been on this med since I was diagnosed when I was 26. Now that I am 65, I am being told that my pharmacy is having a hard time getting it, that the generic has been pulled by the FDA, and that Medicare will not cover it. This is not a simple medicine... it is my lifeline.
Mebaral - Why are there no responses to everyone's questions? Why is Lunbeck being so quiet?

I too am having the same problem. My Neurologist just told me they are taking the drug off the market! It is scary to think something I NEED and that works so successfully can be taken away. Perhaps if enough of us complain - write and call - the manufacturer will continue to make it. I was told that its an old drug - not profitable - many of the people who take this are dying off. I am not. You are not. Let's unite with others and and find someone who sill still make this important drug.

Lundbeck is the only manufacturer of Mebaral. It is the only anti-convulsant that works for me. I?

In response to your Jan 3 post... I too am having trouble finding meberal and been on this drug for nearly 50 years. I was taking 100 mg strength... then when unavailable went to 50 mg... now it is questionable and have taken the 20 mg which of course is 3-4 times the cost, since I will be taking so many more tablets! Any luck in finding any info since your post? Or has your neurologist suggested another drug? Any info would be appreciated...
I just found out the same thing. I have been taking mebaral since 1958... and I question ... no what. It seems to me we are being kicked under the bus and we should start writing to the fda... We are taking a drug that helps us stay normal... i was a 5th grade teacher and convenience store owner. Without mebaral I surely would not have been able to do either. Seems to me we should band together... I am in agreement. Lets not talk about it let's do something about.
no chemist pharma doctor etc can name an equialeny drug. i have started tremors and seizures. don't i matter? is this not a rare form of epilepsy? and they keep making profits on new drugs. even as we suffer. what is wrong and why wouldn't the fda or lundbeck answer>
I totally agree just let me know what i can do? I have been on this since the early 70s and seizure free.
I have had grand mal seizures since I was 11. I have been on mebaral and been seizure free since taking it. Now I have to cut what I have left by 50 mg. I found that a supplement called taurine and another call valerine combination buy natures way have been keeping me under control and I now have a more clearer thaught process if this woks I will be off all mebaral within a tear taurine has anticonvulsant properties there is a great book called healim

Ng epilepsy naturally I found a used copy on amazon big pharmacy do not want this book in our hands the book not only brings new hope but actual success stories and best off all the supplements I take cost me about $10.00 vs $ $400 for me real . As a herbalist with great success in my field when I am factually sure this is the answer which I already believe it is I will be going public in a very strategic way to tech all those responsible in doing this to all of us but in a ethical and positive fashion the FDA has many more meds slated for discontinue there is a new app that tell us these result right from your iPhone I agree we all should ban together and help each other out with all the effective research we can dig up on our conditions and alternat methods to help ourselves thus making us all 100 percent independent of these people and mabe others with different des eases will do the same.
