I did research it. Thus far all i found was Di not stop taking it! Controlled my high cholesterol.
Suffering bad headaches. I did call in a refill.
So many meds to keep track of; would abruptly stopping a Statin affect energy?

Added 8 Jun 2012:
Simvastatin 40mgs 1 tab @ bedtime.
I know so many variables play in symptoms. Especially 47 yrs of unknown chemical changes naturally or many meds that helped yet did their own damage, different durations.
Anyways, my scattered thoughts, poor ongoing concetration, ADD, i got my statin filled, picked it up before working 2nd shift, got home and crashed. Still in my uniform. Awoke briefly a few times, common every night. Total 12 hrs. Unrested feeling most my life.
Bad headache said," Good afternoon!" Then noticed i never opened and took my statin.
I won't lie, it's my responsibility to get take my meds as prescribed. Pill organizer & perhaps an android app reminder/ cell alarm itself.
Most all agree with me on that?
Worse is, nobody beats me up successfully as "myself!"
Thanks all!! This is by far the best caring & knowledgeable people here.
Good health to all!!

Stopping a statin will not cause you more pain or headaches. It lowers your total chlesterol is what it is suppose to do. There has been a lot of recent research that points to certain statins causing tendon & muscle problems while you are taking them ,& also for some time after quitting. Some times there can be permanent damage depending on the type, dose, & other factors. You did not indicate which statin you were on, but most, & especially simvastin falls into that catergory. There is an FDA warning about this too. If you care to read the report, you can sign up on their site, FDA Consumer Updates. In fact there is an ad showing on the right of my screen as I type this answer (in blue box) stating 'FDA Expands Avice on Statin Risk.'All you have to do is click on that blue box & it will come up on your screen. Hope this helps... Mary

However, since you are having bad headaches, something has changed. For you, I suggest you get in touch with a doctor as high cholesterol can lead towards tiny strokes, often defined as severe headaches. Please get checked out right away,

Each time you add another medication to your list, you multiply the risks of all medications. They have a really great site right here on Drugs.com under Mednotes at the top of the page, where you can list all medications and supplements that you take, and they will tell you what interferes with what you are taking. this is a very valuable tool. I was taking flexeril, and potassium, and the mediates site told me that this was an unacceptable combination and to contact my doctor. They were right!! EVen the pharmacist told me that they see no problem, but I was having terrible GI problems, and the site explained that the problem was GI problems. A call to my MD, and he told me to stop the flexeril immediately! I haven't had any problems since. I bring a copy of the list (they have pocket printable versions) to every doctor, and every appt. and keep it updated. It is very easy to use.
Best of luck to you!!

I'll just start by saying that you got some great advice from the other posters. You mentioned getting one of those pill organizers, and I think that's a great idea. You can download some for free at your app store for your phone. Just remember to look at them carefully. Some of them deal only with setting up a pill reminder while some of them are just for tracking your prescriptions. Then there are those that do both. It would be kind of silly to order one of those pill boxes online since you could buy them much more cheaply at your local pharmacy for a couple of dollars. I really hope you're able to get
Some help from my suggestion. Best wishes!! Lisa
Thanks Lisa. Yes, everyone here is so helpful to me & many others.
I got the plastic pill organizer. Actually replacing my broken one.
This site is great, but, it's only great by the great people, like you, that make it so.
Thanks all!! "Loving to live & living to love, all."

You are absolutely right.I took Statin for 3 days and still suffering for 1 week. This medicine is prescribed to Lower Cholesterol and GOD knows whether Cholesterol contributes to Heart disease.I am sure only 5 % people need it ans NO Research to validate , If you are taking all other medicines for Heart problem and NO STATIN ,another heart attack is imminent. Sometimes I feel , it is better to die of Heart attack rather than Statin attack.
