My wife was on Terbinafine for about 3 weeks and now she has crippling joint pain. She has stopped taking the medication but is there anyway to help clear her system of this terrible drug?

I've also been taking Terbafine and have had the exact same joint pain. You are the first I've read that has associated the Terbafine with the joint pain. I, too, started severe joint pain about 3 weeks after I began the med. At first, the pains lasted 2 to 3 days, and they moved around. Now, 6 weeks after starting the med, the joint pains aren't quite as severe, but they are still there. Did your wife have a skin rash/welts as well? Have your wife's pains stopped now that she's off the Terbafine? I'd be really interested to know how she is. Thanks!

About a week after she stopped taking Terbafine the pain eased up and eventually left after the second week. Before the pain would kick in she would always get an outbreak of hives in various parts of her body. That seemed to be the warning sign to chill out and brace for the joint pain. Regardless, she isn't getting back on Terbafine anytime soon.
Terbinafine that is...
She also had swelling around the joints.
I'm so glad your wife feels better. Awful stuff! I look forward to feeling better in a week or so. Definitely dumping the Terbinafine! When I saw 2 docs, I mentioned the Terbinafine, but neither one thought that was it. I think they saw my hives and were looking for something more immediate (than 3 weeks into Terbinafine). Thank goodness for the internet and for your fast reply. My husband will be happy. I am!
Hope it works for you. Good luck.
I took terbenifine for about 10 days late nov or early dec. Crippling joint pain that lasted for about a month. Most of Jan. was pain free but the joint pain started again in February.I had stopped taking terbinafine in early Dec. Any idea how to get this monster out of my system.
All my symptoms cleared up completely after about one week off Terbinafine. I was noticeably better after a couple of days off the drug. I have not had any recurrence at all, and it's been at least 2 months off... definitely feel it's gone.
JanBer I am glad to hear it worked out for you too. My wife did not have any issues after a week or so with no recurring symptoms. Fusion I am not sure why you would have a flare up of the symptoms 2 months later. It almost sounds like something else could be causing your joint pain but maybe someone else will post a similar recurrence. Good luck.
AMV, my thoughts exactly... could be something else?
