Lyme Disease - I had the blood test for Lyme - positive - 2 week course of antibiotic. Dr. doesn't... "believe in long term lyme" says I'm just symptomatic. The Dr.'s in North Jersey who do "cure it" do not take insurance and each visit is $400. I don't want to waist my limited resources on the quacks - does anyone have any advice on a medical protocol that works (not the one the AMA lists). I have so many things wrong, I don't know what to ascribe to which medical problem.

Hi chand2007, You can not mess about with Lyme disease!!! This is serious stuff. Please find the BEST doctor in your area, and damn the cost.
This disease can affect you for the rest of your life, so do not think about the money... if that is possible.
Wishing you the best,
sweetlemon

Lymes disease is treated with 3 weeks of antibiotic at least I was I will get symptoms now and again like a cold or muscle aches but 400. 00 is rape find a family doctor believe me they have all treated lymes and recurrant symptoms. I am so sorry you are getting a bunch of bull from doctors who are just out for money and not the patient. Oooooooohhhhhh this makes me sooooo pissssed
off and I usually do not talk like this on this site but to take advantage of you is a crime. The doctor who tol you you were just symptomatic is probably right listen to him give it a try I have had lymes for 6 years and have never had a relapse that is worth mentioning. On the other hand know your body and get treated for any medical condition that requires a physician I mean a real dovtor

I have had lymes for close to 2yrs now. I have had bells palyse, lost feeling in my hands and feet, constant pain, headache, not been able to walk, memory loss. I have had 7 months of oral antibiotics and 2months of iv antibiotics. Yes, Lymes is cronic and long term. Do what ever it takes to get it under control. Doctors still have a hard time diagnosing it, lymes can mimic a number of other diseases. It is different in every person. I have met many people with lymes. It is almost a relief when you find someone who is going through the same thing... good luck to you

Lyme (chronic pain) I have chronic Lyme disease. This controversy over How to Treat is crazy. I got it 2002 and was diagnosed almost 2 years later! My knees started to lose there strength, I had to pick them up to get in my car. I found a Dr who put a picc-line in for 30 days. I felt the knees getting better day by day. I am going to tell you that I have never felt right after that tick bite, I am in severe pain all the time and have a team of 3 Dr's on my case. I don't know what to tell you, if I were you I would just keep making appt's with specialists. Get brain MRI, whatever you need. You have to be persistent with these Dr's!!I have a medical background so I research at least 2 hours a day!

The CDC released a report this week on Lymes disease, treatment and "chronic lymes disease".MANY people have been being treated for this and the meds may HURT you.I was taking Biaxin, Paquinil , cholesteramine, microcurrent txs, and an antifungal I ordered from England because it's over 500$ a RX here. I've been off meds for about 6 weeks and am still running fever and am VERY ill. I've been spiraling down this entire year. PLEASE ck the recent CDC update before trying"holistic" therapy. I probably have something bad wrong with me but it is NOT lymes and have wasted a lot of time by not seeing a standard medical practice physician.

I hope you have seen a good dr and have been given an antibiotic, I knew I had lymes at least 3 years ago by my symptoms but no test positive until 2 weeks ago! Now I'm on one antibiotic that everyone takes for lymes but my body isn't accepting it well, so I just received another one, not the best one. GET HELP. Lymes is horrible!~
A neurologist discovered mine when I was having a flare up... She tested me once before when I requested but it was negative. This time... NO DOUBTS ABOUT IT.
