mudderbud...My buddy took his first xanax 2 nights ago. They are 2 mg and he wants to take another one tonight but has a drug test on march 8. I told him he shouldnt take it because i have heard it can stay in your system for a week and a half. What are the chances he will test positive?

Many sources say 3-7 days but I, personally, had one dose of Xanax 0.5mg show up in a drug screen six weeks after I took it! I take Xanax prior to my dental appts, so I knew exactly when I had my last dose and six weeks later I had a UDS for a job and it showed positive for Xanax. Luckily I did have a prescription, so it was of no consequence but I do now know that benzos can be detected in the urine a long time! If he doesnt want Xanax to show on this UDS coming up, he'd better not take anymore-you are right, it can be detected a long time because it stores in the fat.

My dentist has no problem giving me something even for a cleaning. I am terrified of the dentist but on top of that, my bite is soooo bad, if they dont give me something just having my mouth open sets my TMJ to spasm then I get a migraine so she sedates me a little. She is very sweet!

Dzoobaby I am sorry and I don't mean to be rude, but this is the second comment I have seen of yours about taking one 0.5 mg xanax and getting a drug test 6 weeks later... someone is spiking your punch dear! Scientifically there is no way that would still be in your system.The half-life is how long it takes a drug to reach 50% in your body, which can help you determine how long until it is completely processed out. The half life of the Alprazolam in Xanax is approximately 11 hours and the total elimination time of a drug is usually 5 to 6 half lives, so it would be eliminated from your body in 50 to 55 hours, this is WORST case scenario.That being said there is a more accurate calculation for chronic users. Someone who have taken them for years can retain them in their system for a few weeks. I just had to tell you how ridiculous this story sounds. Really I'm not being rude just truthful..if you go out to the club or anything like that keep an eye on your drinks..maybe someone gave you a roofie.
