arcanoidc...I just want from anybody's general perspective who has taken a benzodiazepine drug for more than 1 year or other wise stated long-term and if you have had any worse side effects than when you first started to take these drugs for the first time.I would also like to know if anybody has done any local research here recently?To find out if they have done any kind of double-blind or any other type of study for Long-Term use of Benzodiazepine drugs.

There's a lot of experience in Vancouver detoxing from Benzo's... they say it's one of the worse experiences you can image. I'm still trying to get off Serax, Valium or Ativan use. Only took one pill at night, but when I don't get a dose, or reduce it, I get a pounding heart, shakes and other withdrawal symptoms. They say it can last for 1-3 months, and sleep won't return until 6 months so...

Hello arcanoidcyst16. As the expression says "been there done that" I went through detox twice for benzodiazepine addiction. Both instances as an inpatient. I can safely say, the longer a period of time on a benzodiazepine, the more diificult it is when it is time to stop taking them. Add the dose factor on to the above and its a bundle, a mess to come clean off them. Regards, pledge
