How long does it take for nicotine to clear out of your system?

Nicotine clears out of the body in less than a day. However, for the purposes of testing if someone is a smoker or not, the metabolite of nicotine (cotinine) is tested for and that generally takes about 4-5 days to clear out.

Hope it helps.
