We are being drug tested @ work in 3 weeks,or 4...I'd like to stop the codine for good,but wondering if the codine will still be in my system 3-4 weeks frm now?I do not want to loose my job

Codeine is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is rapidly distributed from the intravascular spaces to the various body tissues, with preferential uptake by parenchymatous organs such as the liver, spleen, and kidney. Codeine crosses the blood-brain barrier and is found in fetal tissue and breast milk. The plasma concentration does not correlate with brain concentration or relief of pain; however, codeine is not bound to plasma proteins and does not accumulate in body tissues.The plasma half-life is about 2.9 hours. The elimination of codeine is primarily via the kidneys, and about 90% of an oral dose is excreted by the kidneys within 24 hours of dosing. The urinary secretion products consist of free and glucuronide conjugated codeine (about 70%), free and conjugated norcodeine (about 10%), free and conjugated morphine (about 10%), normorphine (4%), and hydrocodone (1%). The remainder of the dose is excreted in the feces.

Nice job with $5 words, but you're answering someone who misspelled every other word! In addition, you never answered the question on how long codeine is in your system. Percentages of chemicals and correlation of plasma might make YOU feel intelligent, but the fact of the matter is you're just as big of an idiot as Jenny.

Actually they did answer the question 90% of it is of your body in 24 hours, if your to stupid to read and do the math on the last 10% you shouldn't be responding to posts.

Thnx,tht answer was very helpful,I only take the tylenol with codine for the healing of my colar bone... I had surgery9plate nd 6 pins put in there) on it 9mnths ago,but had another surgery feb.3rd.(removal of the plate nd pins)the pain aint as bad now,a couple yrs bck I had my foot nd ribs broken,thats whn I started taking the tylenol... I didn't agree with tylenol #3,so started taking tylenol 1's with codine.But thnx so much for the answer ;)
