I also take 300mg of lithium for bipolar-It defiently levels out my moods but the only drawback is weight gain. I also take seroquel and Zoloft which also causes weight gain. So I have a love/hate relationship with lithium and am trying to stay on the medicine because it helps with my moods.
How does 300 mg. of lithium show up on your blood test? Is that a correct
amount to take/
Does 300mg a day definitely level out your moods? How long does it take to
get into your system?

I've been using 1200mg of lithium for 10 or 20 years. I take it to ward off cluster headaches, a rare and painful disease -- and it works, but there's no getting away from the side effects. Yesterday I saw my Dr. for Parkinsons disease because it seemed to me I had 2 of the symptoms -- trembling, and loss of balance. But it turned out it was the Lithium. They don't make drugs for clusters, and lithium really works well, but now I'm paying the cost, but the cost of keeping away cluster headaches (or "suicide headaches") is less than the cost of doing nothing. Lithium is a powerful drug with a zillion side effects.
I'm not a doctor but I expect there's a huge difference between 300mg a day and 1200mg.
