According to my surgeon, my DJD is not active in my back but I still have severe back pain. I take Indomethacin 25mg 3 times a day but wear the patch at night for spine pain where I had the surgery. (Titanium metal replaced the decayed bones). I also take pain medication but have weened myself of only as needed.
Lidocaine patch 5%. Web site has no info on this. I wear this for back pain (DJD). Why?

Hmmm... haven't heard of this one, but it would kind of make sense. Lidocaine is usually injected (like at the dentist)or along with steriods for imflamation. I will have to ask my pain doc about it. Of-couse they would have to have a patch 5 foot tall & about 34 inches around for me hehe. Good luck, & hope it helps. I've had 2 failed back surgeries & now no one will touch me because all I have left is scar tissue in my lower spine. Bummer!
I feel the same! Just wrap my body in the stuff! :)

Great info as usual Maso! The patch actually works quite well for topical pain. Relaxes the muscles too.

Thanks, info very helpful. Read the site you recommended.
I take OTC Benzocaine for immediate relief. I don't use the patch that often and don't mix the two. Told the dr about the Benzocaine and he told me if is for immediate relief and to be truthful, the Benzocaine lasts for about 45 minutes max but it does help.
You are very welcome.-
