Heysamsaka,
Librium, a benzodiazepine, is a medication that you can become dependent on meaning you have to taper off not stop abruptly when and if you decide to discontinue. If you take it as prescribed, and do not take more than prescribed, then long term use will be ok especially since it controls your symptoms. Some people build a tolerance to any given benzodiaxepine and have to switch to another, but that is after many many years of use. There are many to choose from so if that happens, not to worry.
Hope this helps,
Laurie

Hey titanmvc,
Even though they are in the same class of drugs, they are still different drugs. I think your doctor is just being cautious which is ok. Weaning off one and starting another makes good sense.
