Levothroid and other thyroid hormone replacement drugs should be taken first thing in the morning at least 30 minutes before eating breakfast. This drug is absorbed better on an empty stomach and should be taken at the same time each day with a full glass of water. If you take vitamin and mineral supplements, calcium, iron or antacids; wait 4-6 hours between taking the supplements and Levothroid. Products containing soy can also interfere with the effectiveness of Levothroid, and should be avoided.
