Is there any other drug other than Lamisil that could be used to treat nail infection?
Lamisil seems potentially dangerous (side effects) and it is recommended not to drink coffee or alcohol which I can't do for 3 months.
Thanks

You will find information on fungal nail infections at http://www.drugs.com/enc/fungal-nail-infection.html
Other systemic drugs used to treat fungal nail infections include:
griseofulvin http://www.drugs.com/mtm/griseofulvin.html
itraconazole http://www.drugs.com/mtm/itraconazole.html
ketoconazole http://www.drugs.com/mtm/ketoconazole.html
There is a topical product called Penlac (ciclopirox) available in the form of a nail lacquer which does work well if you are prepared to use it for a long time and attend to your nails regularly.
see http://www.drugs.com/penlac.html
...Treatment with Penlac nail lacquer may require six months or more before initial improvement of symptoms is noticed. Up to 48 weeks of daily application of the nail lacquer, monthly removal of the unattached infected nail by a health care professional, and weekly trimming by the patient may be required for complete treatment....
