Is there any other drug other than Lamisil that could be used to treat nail infection?
Lamisil seems potentially dangerous (side effects) and it is recommended not to drink coffee or alcohol which I can't do for 3 months.
Thanks

You will find information on fungal nail infections at http://www.drugs.com/enc/fungal-nail-infection.html
Other systemic drugs used to treat fungal nail infections include:
griseofulvin http://www.drugs.com/mtm/griseofulvin.html
itraconazole http://www.drugs.com/mtm/itraconazole.html
ketoconazole http://www.drugs.com/mtm/ketoconazole.html
There is a topical product called Penlac (ciclopirox) available in the form of a nail lacquer which does work well if you are prepared to use it for a long time and attend to your nails regularly.

Yes there are many other medications you can use ask your doctor,
but you might have to use antifungal medications for more then 3 months
basically your nail has to be completely regrown while you are taking
the antifungal medication, also nail fungus is infectious so stay away from
places like locker rooms.
And you could use a new type of laser that kills the fungus under your skin,
see a foot doctor for that.
Natural remedies are a total waste of time because the fungus is under a very
thick layer of nail and no cream, ointment or liquid will be able to get through or to be absorbed, I know, I have try and so have some of my friends.
That said I was able to rid myself of the fungus with Lamisil, you should not be afraid of side effects until you try the medication, remember you can always stop using it at any time so there is no risk what so ever.
