I was told that out of all the hypoglycemics Januvia is the least effective in lowering your Hb A1C. Can you confirm or denial this statement. I do take Janumet and I can't get my A1C down. Thank you.

I have been taking Januvia 50mg for quite awhile and it has helped the Glyburide bring my A1C down from 10.2 to 5.6 in about 6 months so don't give up, of course follow your doctors directions but don't give up it takes more time for some than others. Good luck, marjorie zych

I have been on Januvia for about 4 months and it didnt help my sugars at all. In fact I feel like it made them higher. Anyone else have this?
I am starting on Victoza at the beginning of the week. My dr wants me to stay on my current meds, but I am hoping to be able to drop the Januvia because it is so expensive.

Thank you for the support, Marjorie. I use to take Glyburide and it would drop my blood sugar so low that I would have tremors. I know this was not good and the PCP put me on Janumet which did away with the hypoglycemia, but kept my AlC at 7 and 7.5.
Sorry to hear about the Glyburide doing that to you hope this one works for you it is no fun feeling that crappy, I have been there. Hope the A1C comes down some more for you. Good luck, marjorie zych
