Hi can i just check the names of the meds you are currently taking? Unfortunately lack of sex drive and other associated problems are known as a possible side effect of both Citalopram and many birth control tablets. There are alternative meds (tablets) that you can try and also alternative treatment types. It will help to know what you are taking at the moment...

Unfortunately, one side effect of antidepressants such as the citalopram is lack of ability to orgasm. The only antidepressant that I am aware of that may not have this effect on you is Wellbutrin. Some people can add Wellbutrin to their existing antidepressant and it overcomes this problem. Definitely worth discussing this problem with the prescribing doctor.
how does the effexor work for you?
I was on it 3 years ago and it helped alot i was on 75mg then in july of this year i started to get depressed and instead of upping my dose i was switched to pristik, big mistake!! I just started back on it about 2 weeks ago and im already feeling better. There are some set backs, side effects, i cant drink alcohol and if i miss a dose i get horrible withdrawals but if you stick with it it realy does help, well it does for me. Are you taking it too?

Hi, i have cut and paste this paragraph which explains WHY birth control tablets can affect a womans sexual libido... "
Studies have linked oral contraceptive use to decreased levels of androgens - the class of hormones, including testosterone, thought to drive both male and female sexuality. Birth control pills also alter a woman's natural estradiol fluctuations (the group of hormones that includes estrogen), which many ob-gyns consider the main source of female libido. When you're on the pill, your hormonal balance changes - and consequently, your desire for sex might change, too".
There are many different types of birth control pill, but none of them can say that they won't affect your sex drive. It might be an idea to try alternate forms of birth control, such as barrier methods? How would you and your partner feel about that?
