... risk to start doing so now? My mother had a brain stroke 8 years ago, has tyroid problems, glaucoma, high blood pressure and has to take a lot of pills and eye drops. My sister was taking care of her, but I have her custody now and found out that since 2008 the precribed pills where not giving to her. Next doctor appointment is in 2 months, should I retake the prescription?

That's a hard decision. When was her last doctors visit?
If she hasn't had it for 8 months perhaps wait till she sees her doctor next time and let him know that it wasn't given to her. He/she can decide what to do. If he/she wants her to start taking it again they'll be aware to monitor her, etc. Try to get an earlier doctors appointment if possible. All the best.
