My doctor prescribed Valtrex, but when I got the refill the pharmacy filled it with Acyclovir. I have tried to compare them on this site and it looks like they are very similar. I just want to be sure. My insurance information has also changed since I was originally prescribed Valtrex so I think that may have affected the refill at the pharmacy also.
Is Valtrex and Acyclovir (generic for Zovirax) the same? I think they are, but I'm not sure?

Zovirax is used for: Treating chickenpox (varicella) or shingles (herpes zoster) and treating or suppressing genital herpes infections. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor Valtrex is used for: Treating shingles (herpes zoster), cold sores (fever blisters or herpes labialis), and treating or suppressing genital herpes in patients with normal immune systems.Valtrex is used to treat certain herpes infections, including herpes zoster (the painful rash known as shingles), genital herpes, and herpes cold sores on the face and lips. I dont see much differences here so I'd go with it
