Is valerian root the source of valium?

No. Valium is chemically different from the Valerian root. Valerian is a herb and is not regulated by the FDA or DEA. If Valerian did contain Valium chemically the DEA would make it a schedule 4 Drug like Valium is. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
