I have been prescribed both of these medications for nerve pain following a lower back partial laminectomy. I was fine for a full year following surgery, with no need for any type of pain medication. Just recently, my doctor verified that I would not need additional surgery (woohoo!), but I was prescribed these two medications for the recent nerve pain.

I had a disc implant on L5S1 in January and it also caused nerve damage to my left leg and foot, they prescribed Lyrica for me and I also had tramadol(ultram), they are both for pain, lyrica works however much better for nerve pain and ultram for back pain, if your doctor prescribed it for you then it should be fine, try and take one or the other though, Just thought I would let you know that nothing works for the nerve damage, I went in and had cortizone injected eventually into the leg, over time it becomes less painfull and mroe annoying, the tempreture in my leg and foot is boiling hot all the time, but the pian subsides over time, it as been 9 months, they say it can take up to 3 years for the nerve damage to be repaired..

Taking Ultram or Tramadol or Tramacet with Lyrica can cause seizure-do some homework and you will find that out-be careful because Dr.s often don't know about drug interactions. You have to be your own advicate. Best of luck to you.
