My health insurance says this is not in their drug formulary and it is too expensive for me to pay out of pocket. Can you provide information on a generic or how I may acquire this without breaking my bank account???

There is no generic for Amitiza (lubiprostone) yet. You could probably try the manufacturer, Sucampo Pharmaceuticals... they may have patient assistance programs.
