Sodium hyaluronate is a medicine.
Hyaluronic acid is normally present in joint fluid, and in osteoarthritis sufferers this gets thin. Hyaluronic acid (artificial joint fluid) can be injected into the joint to help protect it. This may relieve pain for up to six months.
Brands Available :
Synvisc (generic: hylan g-f 20)
Orthovisc (generic: hyaluronan)
Euflexxa, Hyalgan, Supartz (generic: sodium hyaluronate)

Well, sodium hyaluronate is more of a medicine but not a medical device. I hope this helps.
