It depends on what type of diagnosis you have. Serax is generally used for general anxiety, alcohol withdrawl, and insomnia. Xanax is used more for anxiety with panic attacks and/or anxiety with depressive symptoms. You need to be careful with both because they are both benzos and can be highly addictive. Hope this helps.
