Reglan is a dopamine antagonist. It is used as an antiemetic to help nausea and vomiting, also for delayed gastric emptying as well as for GERD. It stimulates motility of the upper GI tract so it helps your digestive tract to move contents trough faster and better. It keeps acid from sitting in the stomach rather than neutralizing it.

Only if you take reglan for more than a year you can become allergic to some foods. My husband had to take it and after two years he could not eat any meat products or would get sick. Several months after quiting it he now can eat meat again.
