I have been prescribed Prosed DS, but my insurance company claims that the drug is not FDA approved and may be dangerous to my health? How I can verify that?

I'm sorry - I don't know the answer. I've been getting Prosed DS for several years now - just had a prescription filled in July I believe. Seems to me that drugs that are not FDA approved would not be sold here in the US - and yet they obviously are. I looked at the FDA website but could not find this medication. I'm stumped! Anyone else have any information on this?
