The question refers to RA medication. I was on the methylpred with very good results at 8mg/day. My new Dr. switched me over to prednisone 10 mg/day. I am experiencing joint pain, and general joint discomfort, that was not present when using methylprednisolone.
Is prednisone as effective as methylprednisolone?

There should be no differences in effects as the doses of both medicines given to you are equivalent in terms of corticosteroid strength.
If symptoms persist let your doctor know. Maybe there are some absorption or metabolism differences for you and that's why you are not experiencing the same results. Your doctor may decide to up your dose of prednisone and see or he/she could put you back on prednisolone.
