Is it safe to take a prednisone 20 mg tab with Benadryl 25 mg, Acetaminophen 325 mg, Guaifenesin 20?

Wow, I can't believe your doctor gave you 20mg of prednisone to take on a as needed basis. I can see 5mg., but that is still usually only prescribed for a certain amount of time. The prednisone alone at that dose should be taking care of most of the allergy problem. The guaifenesin is to loosen up the gunk usually in the lungs. Do you have post nasal drip? If so the benadryl before bedtime is your best bet. The tylenol won't interfere with any of these, but I don't think you should be taking 20mg of prednisone any time you want. This is not a small dose, & if taken over long priods of time can interfere with the adrenal glands producing cortisol which is your natural hormone that is prednisone like. It's also very bad for your bones over long periods of time. I also suffer allergy problems year around. Was told one time I shold live in a bubble so know how you feel. I also worked for an allergy doctor.

He would never had written a script like that for prednisone, & neither would my doctor today. Another thing long term use of predisone can cause is cushings disease. If you are taking all the other meds, you shouldn't need the predisone, If you are taking prednisone 20mg, with the exception of the tylenol, you shouldn't really need the others. Hope this helps...
