I have 2 bottles of unopened, sealed Effexor XR that I no longer need. Can I get into trouble for selling them?

If Effexor XR is a prescription drug, it is illegal for you to sell it, or any other prescription drug. Prescriptions can only be written by qualified medical personnel, ie Physicians. I know of no state in the US where a person can sell prescriptions without a license. Don't do it. The penalties are too high. The only thing I have heard you can do is, if they are not open, you might be able to give them to a Doctors office to be used as samples, though this I'm not positive of. A nurse told me that. Even though prescription drugs are sold on the streets now, and it is one of the fastest moving new trends, it would be a tremendous disadvantage to get caught. There is a real crackdown on that now, and many people are being caught and prosecuted. I hope this helps you in making a decision.

It's Illegal to sell any prescription drugs. Here are the consequences of selling such drugs.
-First offense: up to 7 years imprisonment, a $25,000 fine, or both
-Subsequent offenses: up to 15 years imprisonment, a $100,000 fine, or both
-Alternative sentence: up to a 3 year indeterminate sentence with conditional release
(It differs from state to state)
Of course that's only if you get caught by the police or the person you sold it to told the police. Hope this helps.
