I think that I have observed that my spouse, who takes the exelon patch, is better controlled/behaved when the patch is applied to the bony area of the upper back than to the more fatty area lower on the back.

Apply the skin patch to a flat, hairless area of the chest, back, side, or outer side of your upper arm.
These are the areas recommended to apply the patch to. It doesn't say which part of the back specifically. If you feel that it works better for your spouse when put on the bony area then that's great. Just keep on applying on that sort of area.
