gh7106My 8 year old step-son is currently being monitored for possible Lymes disease. He is on this medication and we don't know what it is used for. The doctor's office that he goes to is non-compliant with sharing information with my husband because the mother told them to not release any medical information to him, even though our court order states he is entitled to all medical records. We are unaware as to why he is on this medication. He was also prescribed with Hydrocortisone Val Cr 45gm 0.2%. An answer to this would be greatly appreciated.

Hydroxyzine(also known as Vistaril or Atarax) is used for several things: it is an antianxiety medication but is is also used as an antihistamine and a sedative. My GUESS would be that his doctor ordered it to help with the swelling and possibly to curb any nausea or vomitting. FYI, it does cause dry mouth in most patients so you might need to keep gum or hard candy on hand for him. As for the hydrocortizone cream, that's probably for anti-inflamatory purposes or anti-itching.

I agree with the answer given BUT want to add this if i may. If he has a court order FAX the paper work to the Dr's office . If they are still not willing to share his childs medical info and it indeed is court ordered.. (HE HAS THAT RIGHT AS HIS DAD!), to properly care for his son when in his home.. Take her back to court for Violation of a court order. In a situation like that.. She is hurting the child more than the father and dont even care. She is not allowing her son to be properly cared for while in his fathers care and that's just wrong. A judge will see this.. Record it!! keep a journal of everything she does and denies that goes against that court order it will play largely in court. Im sorry if this is some what off topic but it was mentioned in the orginal post and nothing sickens me more when a parent uses a child to try and control the other parent especially when its at the expense of the child. i hope all works out hun and please take her back to court, don't let her use that child as a weapon like that.

Thank you for your input snakelady; I could not agree with you more. It is extremely unfortunate that we've been dealing with many issues for a long time now. I do not sleep on anything! There are 2(two) binders FULL of documents containing email records, text messages, phone call violations, visitation violations, myspace comments, yes I said myspace; this person airs out their dirty laundry on the world wide web, and has done so with NO regard for anything or anyone, but I am surely not surprised. There is not one thing that we do not have documented. I saw right through her when I first met her, and I knew there was going to be trouble in the future and my step-son was going to be the one to suffer more because he is vulnerable and cannot handle himself when he is bullied by her. We are adults and can handle things.

What's even more repulsing is that my Husband provides the health insurance paying the full premium while she pays NOTHING, and yet has the audacity to prevent him from obtaining his medical records. Every dog has it's day, and I will do everything in my power to SAVE my step-son!
Amen to that! I was so mad when i read that post grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I can just imagine what you guys are going through and that little boy. She is doing all this stuff to down grade his dad.. Don't she relize?? or care this affects the child? Does she state things in front of him? Have you guys considered obtaining a lawyer and possibly doing these 2 things... Sue her for deflamation of character? And most importantly reversing the custody?
I would never in a million years state a mother should not have her child but when that child is being used and abused as a weapon to hurt the other parent.. They don't deserve to have the child. Its good his dad has a relationship with him, in time as he gets older he will be able to fit the pieces together a lot better and see what she is doing BUT this isnt good either of course because no matter what a parent shouldnt have a damaged relations with their child.

Seriously file a petition against her for breach of a court order.. even if the court passes by it for the time being being... The more it happens the more p'ed off the judge will be.
This situation reminds me of my friends deal with his ex.. same situation and he did bring her back to court.. The judge finally got mad at her, stating she was abusing her child and gave him custody. The child improved in school etc etc and she was forced into child parenting classes. Anyhow, as you can see I myself, get livid from these situations because NO PARENT has ANY right to withhold a child from the other parent for ANY reasons OR make it harder to properly care for their child by with holding information.
Just because the relatioship of 2 people break down.. there is still a common responsibility and thats the child. I know you know all this already..Iim just typing out loud LOL. Im sorry for babbling. Feel free to write to me anytime even just to blow off steam. Take care hun.. Snakey
