I was taking Pataday for eye itchiness, irritation and redness. Since I have skin rosacea and take Oracea to treat that, skin conditions had improved and irritation had lessened. My eyes were feeling dry and irritated and I found on the Internet that lid scrubs might help, which they did. I just had an eye checkup and was told I probably did not have eye allergies. I had been using Patanol for years off and on, and do not remember whether it was an ENT or family dr. who first prescribed it. Since I have year round nasal allergies and take Clarinex-D for them, I find it hard to believe they are not affecting my eyes as well. GenTeal was the most soothing eye drops after cataract surgery (followed by Lasik for astigmatism that developed after the cataract or as a result of the cataract surgery). I was given a sample of Systane balance whick made my eyes feel a little irritated, so I prefer GenTeal if it is just as appropriate, and since it is on the list of lubricants I guess it must be.
