rhondable...My doctor prescribed gabapentin for sore feet and muscle pain in my legs and I am on 300 mgs. I am new to this drug ,and my feet feel better, and I feel like I am less anxious. Is it my imagination?
Is gabapentin good for anxiety as well as pain relief?

Nope, not your imagination. Gabapentin (neurontin) is prescribed for both nerve pain and seizure disorder. An off label use of gabapentin is helping control mood disorder.

Thanks so much it helps me a lot to know that, because on top of the pain in my feet. I was getting really anxious about everything else!

Thanks for your feedback. I realize that I was in so much pain, that feeling pain free has reduced my anxiety a lot, The anxiety was definitely a symptom of the acute pain ,and I did not realize that at the time. I have also noticed that my mood has elevated a little from the drug.

I confirm that Gabap. helps keep the mood even and is better than benzos and helped get me off anti depressants. It's a great med and has helped my tigeminal nerve pain tremendously.
I'm so happy that the gabapentin is working for you... me not so much my doc keeps uping my dose and still nothing, I have to still take almost 400 mg of tramadol with it. It makes me somewhat tired, foggy and forgetful... I think its CRAZY my doc just keeps upping my dose when I tell her my symptoms... ugh sorry not a great answer but thanks for listening!!!

The doctor can go as high as 1800mg a day of gabapentin. The doctor may try the max before deciding it is not working so be patient. You may be a better canidate for Lyrica or Savella. Mention to the doc, if you want. Hang in there and I do hope you can reduce the tramadol soon.
