Hey paul,
Flomax is not a pain blocker per say. Flomax relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. So it may help the kidney stone pass, ultimatley relieveing the pain. Flomax is an medicine that reduces artery resistance and increases vein capacity basically allowing blood to flow easier, so it can cause low blood pressure hence why they recommend you take at night and be cautious when standing from a sitting position because it may make you light headed.
Hope this helps,
Laurie
