Is dextroamphetamine 15 mg spansule--or any dextroamphetamine-- available in generic form?

Dextroamphetamine was originally manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline and is sold under the name Dexedrine. However, it has since come off patent and is now available as a generic. Interestingly, brand-name Dexedrine tablets are also made by another maker (Shire Richwood Inc.) under a different name: Dextrostat tablets. Dextrostat tablets are equivalent to Dexedrine tablets.

Generic dextroamphetamine is sold under the names Dextroamphetamine Sulfate tablets and Dextroamphetamine Sulfate Extended Release capsules.

Several different manufacturers make generic dextroamphetamine. Some of these manufacturers include: Barr Pharmaceuticals; KV Pharmaceuticals; Mallinckrodt Inc.

While brand-name Dexedrine tablets are no longer available, generic dextroamphetamine tablets are available in three strengths:

Dextroamphetamine sulfate 5 mg tablets
Dextroamphetamine sulfate 10 mg tablets
Dextroamphetamine sulfate 15 mg tablets.
