my wife has been on it for 3 weeks, she says it is a mirical drug.
she has been smoke free for 2 weeks now, and says she is never going to smoke again.
she is also says one month is enough of the medication.
she used to be a heavy smoker, and tried to quit alot but never succeded.
the only side effect shae had sofar is that she forgot to take a dose, so ended up doubling here dose, which was a bad idea. she got really sick, and was vomtting for an hour.
great meds to help you quit, gl

I tried everything from patches to inhalers, no help. I told someone if researchers could come up with something to tell my brain I don't need the Cig. Thats what would work. I did the three months period, you can take it for six months if you feel you need it. I have not had a cig. in 8 months and I smoked for 30/40 years. I'm thankful for that Blessing of Chantix everyday.

I have a friend at work that has been a HEAVY smoker for most of his life..He has been on this Chantix for about 3 months now and is completely smoke free!He says he does'nt even get cravings anymore... Honestly this is a guy that I always said that there would be NO WAY he'd ever quit, and now due to this drug he really did quit... I'd say it must REALLY work for him to have quit...

I've been SMOKE FREE for 43 days. Chantix side effects are scary, but heart disease, lung cancer etc. are scary to. I still have nausea for about 20 minutes after each pill I take. Had a couple of pleasant dreams not night mares. Started eating healthier to ward off constipation and extra weight (have taken off 4.5 pounds). Since I started taking Chantix and checkling in with the online support I haven't had a cigarette, nor have I wanted a cigarette. Oh sure there were afternoons when I needed to walk a little longer because I wanted my "friend" back, but now I'm past that and plan on staying SMOKE FREE for the rest of my life.

Im just starting my 3rd week on Chantix and doing fine. I sometimes want a cigarette but do not need one. I;ve had hardly any side effects..the vivid dreams but they are like little mini movies. Sometimes I want to go back to sleep in see the outcome... some are very sexual. I had a little constipation. I've tried patches, gum and couldn't do it. So far Chantix is working and I have really high hopes to never smoke again. Good luck and feel free to write me anytime!

Hi -
My experience with Chantix was horrid, by week two was just about ready to commit mass murder over the littlest things. See, I have a psych diagnosis, and they now (I beleive) have a black box warning for those who have one. If you have anything - depression or the like, really watch it, your mood that is. Chantix can trigger some very bad symptoms.
Best of luck with it, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

rockermom51, I went through the same personality changes, so my Dr. recently took me off the Chantix and put me on Wellbutrin. I took the Chantix for two weeks and it really scared my family. I have only been taking the WellbutrinXL for a week and have had no side-effects other than minor stomach upset and as for smoking? well cigarettes are starting to taste very, very bad and I don't light up often. So luck to your sister, and I have hope for myself.
You need to give your sister some understanding. Even though Chantix takes away some of the cravings, the withdrawl symtoms are still very real and present. Explaining this to her might help her understand and cope with these emotions better. I was the exact same way and once I realized that, it was a lot easier. Understanding the symtoms is a big part of quitting. Hope this helps.
