Is Cefuroxime effective in treating Lyme disease?

Cefuroxime 500mg is given twice daily for three weeks to treat early stages of Lyme disease.

As per Dr. Burrascano's treatment guidelines (link below), Cefuroxime may be effective in amoxicillin and doxycycline failures. Adult dosage: 1 g every 12 hours.

Each LLMD has his/her own antibiotic preferences, depending on each individual case, the symptomology, and the stage of Lyme disease.
