would u fail a drug test using this cough medicine

No it is not an opiate. I don't think "BRAND NAME: Tessalon Perles" will cause any problems. I always try to remember any prescription or OTC drugs I am taking at the time of my test. I don't remember that cough med even making me sleepy when taking it along with my other meds.
However some cough medicines can cause a "red flag" on a drug test depending on the ingredients in the cough medicine. The last drug test I took, I happened to remember I had taken NyQuil for a cough/cold. Sure enough, the alcohol came back on the drug test.
Remember when you are tested to give a list of any over the counter or prescribed drugs you are taking or have taken. That way there will be a record if something shows up that could be questioned.
