Is anyone with osteoarthritis being prescribed hydroxychloroquine?

I have just been given this medication about a week ago. Any advice would be most welcomed. I also take Mobic.

I have not seen it used in OA only for RA, so I cannot comment on its use.

This is interesting. No, I've never heard of it for Osteoarthritis. Who prescribed it for you? A Rheumatologist or your regular doctor? I looked it up, & it says for Malaria, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, & other conditions. Don't really have an answer, but would be interested in finding out what the others have to say. Have you questioned your doctor about this? Is it helping? DzooBaby will probably be your best bet for an answer. Let us know what you find out, please? Good luck too...

I also was prescribed this medicine even though i dont have ra. I was worried about it since my gp told me it would be harder to fight infections. But he said since i have aggressive erosive osteoarthritis they are using this to prevent further joint damage.
