The reviews are from patients who have had organ transplant, so I can't comment. Please post your question in the forum ... someone may share some knowledge.

Is your lichen planus on your skin or is it oral? Cellucept was offered to me, but I am still thinking about it, considering I am still dealing with the side effects of prednisone. Heard there is possible kidney damage with Cellucept, and since I already have Type 1 diabetes (47years), I don't want to risk my kidneys unless this stuff works. Would appreciate knowing if it worked for you or not.

I am taking it for Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH). I tried AZA and could not take that, then took Mercaptopurine (6mp) for over 3 months, which didn't work. I just started CellCept. Side effects seem to be less for me so far then the 6mp, but I eventually have to get to 1000 mgs. I have also been on prednisone since June 2nd - started at 60 mg, tapered down to 20 mg, but had to go back up to 35 mgs along with Cellcept.

Hi Marilyn, I have been talking CellCept for about 6 weeks and my lichen plantus is much better but not perfect. I have had it for 15 years and it affected all my mucus membranes and my scalp. It ruined my teeth because it caused my gums to be so inflamed. Now I am much better. Yes, I took Prednisone when I had especially bad flare ups. The side effects there were very hard to deal with, constipation, nervousness, unable to sleep, weight gain and hot flashes. I was teaching and it made that especially difficult. Just yesterday I had my eyes checked and was told I had the begining of cataracts, did I take prednisone? Yes, it is a side effect.
My doctor is testing my blood weekly, then monthly to make sure the CellCept is not damaging anything. I hope after a few more months to be able to cut my dosage down. It has an uncomfortable side effect for me, terrible gas. My friend has no side effects but is on a lower dosage. So, best wishes, please let me know how you do. I have probably been through what ever faces you. Sue
